Dr. Gavin Porter receives Gatton Gold Medal

Dr. Gavin Porter has been awarded The University of Queensland Gatton Gold Medal for his impact on the horticulture industry and education.  Dr. Porter is a 1983 graduate from the Queensland Agricultural College (now known as the UQ Gatton Campus) and was also a 17 year instructor at the University.

The Medal, which is awarded each year to a past student who has made an outstanding contribution in their field, was granted to Dr. Porter due to his becoming an industry leader in the field of intellectual property management and commercialization of new fruit varieties.

Dr. Porter is the Chief Executive Officer for AIGN®, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Australian Nurserymen’s Fruit Improvement Company, and is the Chief Executive Officer for Horticulture Fresh Australia.

“It is a wonderful award which I will dedicate to my family and my many international and Australian colleagues” states Dr. Porter.
