Australian Nurserymens Fruit Improvement Company Ltd. (ANFIC)

Formed in 1983, incorporated in NSW in 1984, the Australian Nurserymen’s Fruit Improvement Company is registered in all Australian states and has 12 progressive members.

Its objectives are: “To undertake, promote and further the improvement, import and export of fruit varieties and rootstocks to the horticultural industry on its own behalf or of any member or non-member.”

Company members travel the world to obtain suitable varieties from legitimate breeders and developers. Licenses are held for varieties of Apples, Pears, Peaches, Nectarines, Plums, Apricots, Grapefruit, Navel Oranges, Cherries, Feijoas, Avocados, Persimmons, Kiwi Fruit, Pineapples, Custard Apples, Bananas, Mangoes and a range of Stone, Pome and Tropical fruit rootstocks. It has a number of deciduous fruit ornamentals licences. As an importer/exporter it holds license agreements in 12 major fruit producing countries.

Its member are in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia providing a large variation in climates, soil types and fruit types. The company has 173.3 hectares planted to nursery and employs 150 permanent staff and over 170 casual staff.

ANFIC is the leading producer of Pome and Stone fruit trees for the commercial grower in Australia and the leading producer of Avocado trees.
